Addison motorcycle crash leads to 2 DUI arrests

ADDISON — A single-vehicle motorcycle crash Sunday evening resulted in two men being arrested on drunken driving charges.

Vermont State Police responded to the crash at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Vermont Route 17 near the intersection of Vermont Route 125.

Dennis Doyle, 69, of East Newport, New York, was traveling west on Route 125 when he entered Route 17 and continued westbound on his 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle subsequently exited the shoulder of Route 17 and overturned.

Doyle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Porter Hospital.

Troopers detected indicators of impairment while speaking with Doyle at the scene.

Doyle was screened, placed under arrest and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing on a charge of driving under the influence.

He was released to a sober party with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court at a later date.

While investigating the crash, troopers identified Joseph Mullen, 54, of Northport, New York, as an uninvolved driver who had stopped at the scene.

Troopers detected indicators of impairment while speaking with Mullen.

Mullen was arrested for DUI-refusal and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

He was also released to a sober party with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court at a later date.

Road conditions were dry and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.
