BRUNSWICK — A 19-year-old Brunswick woman died Monday morning after her vehicle struck a tree on Old Bath Road, according to local authorities.

Brunswick Police, along with Brunswick Fire and EMS, responded to the single-vehicle crash near Box 391 at approximately 8:46 a.m.

Preliminary investigation determined that Kaylah Rusaw was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue northbound on Old Bath Road when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the roadway, and collided with a tree.

The vehicle’s front and side airbags deployed during the crash, but Rusaw was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Brunswick Fire and Rescue personnel worked to free Rusaw, who was entrapped in the vehicle, and performed CPR for approximately 30 minutes.

Despite these efforts, Rusaw did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police indicated that speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
