Smoke prompts fire response in Mayfield

MAYFIELD — The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company and Perth Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a possible brush fire on State Highway 30 near Woods Hollow Road in the Town of Mayfield at 12:22 p.m. Thursday.

Units were dispatched after reports of a large amount of smoke in the area.

Upon arrival, a Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company incident commander reported that nothing was immediately observed.

Broadalbin-Kennyetto responders were advised to continue “non-emergency,” while Perth Volunteer Fire Company was asked to remain on standby at their station.

Further investigation revealed a slight smoke condition in the area.

The fire was subsequently located and extinguished.
