Saratoga Springs police arrest local man on multiple narcotics charges on Caroline Street

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Members of the Saratoga Springs Police Department Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Patrol Division, executed a search warrant at a residence on Caroline Street at approximately 8:00 a.m. Friday.

John Campanella, 56, of Saratoga Springs, was arrested during the execution of the warrant and charged with multiple narcotics-related offenses.

According to police, Campanella faces four new charges under New York State Penal Law in connection with the May 30 search: criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony; and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Police stated that Campanella has two prior arrests for similar offenses.

On May 25, he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony; obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

Previously, on Aug. 28, 2024, he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd degree, an A felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, a B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

After his arraignment Friday, Campanella was remanded to Saratoga County Jail on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 3.
