Pedestrian killed in early morning crash in Albany, NY

ALBANY — A 58-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle at South Pearl Street and Westerlo Street, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection around 5:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a personal injury auto accident, according to the Albany Police Department.

Upon arrival, police found the man in the roadway with serious traumatic injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian has been cooperative with the investigation, police said.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until family members have been notified.

The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
