METHUEN — A man was arrested Friday, May 30, in connection with a pocketbook theft that occurred last October, according to the Methuen Police Department.

The investigation began on Monday, October 7, 2024, when police received a report of a pocketbook stolen from an unlocked vehicle that had been parked outside a friend’s house for approximately ten minutes.

The victim received a fraud alert indicating an attempted use of one of the stolen credit cards, which helped police identify a location to investigate.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the location and used the Lawrence Police camera system, including the Flock system, to capture the suspect vehicle’s license plate.

Police determined the vehicle owner was without a fixed address after attempting to contact him at his last known residence.

On Friday, May 16, an officer was dispatched to a city cemetery where a male was reported with a vehicle full of trash.

Upon running the license plate, the officer recognized the man as a suspect from the October theft and questioned him after reading him his Miranda rights.

The suspect identified a female companion and a third suspect, Omar Giovani Dones, who allegedly “took it outta a car,” according to police.

Dones, who has no fixed address and is known by the street nickname “Polo,” currently has three warrants for his arrest and is known to frequent the Broadway area of Lawrence.

Michael Fischer was arrested on May 30 and charged with accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property.

Dones remains wanted on charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, a felony, and receiving stolen property and stolen credit cards.
