HALFMOON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Halfmoon man on Wednesday in connection with a reported sexual assault that occurred earlier in the day.
The complaint was received Tuesday at 8:52 p.m.
Investigators allege that David W. Crawford, 38, engaged in vaginal sexual contact with another person by forcible compulsion, and at a time when the victim was unable to consent due to physical helplessness.
Crawford is charged with predatory sexual assault, a class A-II felony, two counts of rape in the first degree, class B felonies, as well as criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, both class A misdemeanors.
Authorities said Crawford had previously been convicted of rape.
He is also accused of blocking the victim’s nose and mouth with intent to impede normal breathing, and of unlawfully restraining the individual.
Crawford was arraigned before the Honorable Joseph V. Fodera in Halfmoon Town Court.
He was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
