BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in Dorchester led to the arrest of a Mattapan man on multiple firearm and drug charges early Saturday morning, according to Boston police.
Officers from District B-2 arrested Sonny Deloacth, 42, at approximately 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of Columbia Road and Devon Street after stopping a vehicle that matched the description of one connected to an ongoing firearm investigation.
During the stop, police recovered a loaded .45 caliber Ruger SR45 firearm with an obliterated serial number from Deloacth’s waistband.
The weapon contained one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine, police said.
Officers also found 12 plastic bags containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine in Deloacth’s pants pocket, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Deloacth faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm (3rd offense), firearm violation with two prior violent and/or drug offenses, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on additional charges of unlawful possession of ammunition and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
