PITTSFORD — New York State Troopers from Troop T responded shortly before 2:45 a.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle off the roadway near Interstate 90 westbound, mile marker 358, in Pittsford.

Troopers located a 2019 Ford Mustang in the eastbound lane matching the vehicle description.

Authorities identified the driver as Anthony J. Caceres, 31, of Rochester.

Officials reported that Caceres refused to open his window or provide identification and became verbally combative.

When troopers attempted to reengage Caceres, he continued to refuse cooperation.

A trooper approaching the driver’s side window observed what appeared to be the barrel of a firearm pressed against the glass and pointed toward him.

Troopers took cover behind a marked patrol vehicle and requested additional units.

Following a brief standoff, Caceres was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries were reported.

Caceres was transported to SP Rochester for processing.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, menacing a police officer or peace officer, and obstructing governmental administration 2nd degree.

The investigation remains ongoing.
