Kingston police arrest three in Stuyvesant Charter Apartments assault

KINGSTON — Three people have been arrested in connection with a May 5 assault at Stuyvesant Charter Apartments that left a 22-year-old victim with serious injuries, Kingston police said.

Officers responded at approximately 3:30 p.m. to a report of an assault at the apartment complex, where they found the victim.

The victim was transported by Kingston Fire Department to HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus emergency room and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the victim has since been released from the hospital.

Following an investigation, police arrested Davan A. Ramirez-Jackson, 22, of Kingston; Lemar A. Thomas, 24, of Kingston; and an 18-year-old defendant, whose name was not released.

All three have been charged with felony gang assault in the second degree and felony assault in the second degree.

Police said Thomas faces an additional charge of felony robbery in the second degree related to the assault.

The 18-year-old defendant was also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree after being found with the victim’s property and misdemeanor criminal mischief in the fourth degree for destroying a plexiglass partition at Kingston Police Headquarters.

Ramirez-Jackson and the 18-year-old were processed, arraigned in Kingston City Court and released.
Thomas was processed, arraigned in City Court, and remanded on bail to Ulster County Jail; he has since posted bail.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated, police said.
