BRUTUS — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Corey A. Gamlen, 36, of Auburn, on suspicion of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following an incident at Kenyon Landing on May 20.

Deputies responded at around 5:12 a.m. to a report of vehicle larceny in the Town of Brutus.

Investigators determined that Gamlen called 911 for a medical emergency at his residence.

When the ambulance did not arrive immediately, Gamlen allegedly went to a neighbor’s house, took their keys, and drove the neighbor’s vehicle back to assist with the emergency.

Authorities say Gamlen placed the patient in the back seat of the vehicle and attempted to drive to the hospital.

The owner of the vehicle regained possession of it, and the ambulance arrived on scene a short time later, according to the sheriff’s office.

Gamlen was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle without owner consent in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and was issued an appearance ticket.

He was scheduled to appear in Brutus Town Court on May 27 at 7:00 p.m.

All suspects accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
