Worcester man arrested on warrant, fentanyl trafficking charges

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Vice Squad officers arrested a man on drug trafficking and resisting arrest charges Wednesday evening.

Officers were conducting surveillance near Eastern Avenue around 6:55 p.m. when they spotted 54-year-old Carlos Torres, who had an active arrest warrant.

Torres fled on foot across Shelby Street, discarding items as he ran.

Officers caught up to him and attempted to place him in handcuffs, but he resisted before being subdued.

Police recovered a black case containing bags of suspected fentanyl powder, crack cocaine, and fentanyl pills along the path of the pursuit.

Torres was charged with his outstanding warrant, trafficking 18-36 grams of a Class A substance, possession of a Class B substance, and resisting arrest.
