SOUTHBRIDGE — Detectives and officers from the Southbridge Police Department and a K-9 officer from the Charlton Police Department executed a search warrant at 168 Mechanic Street, apartment 2L, on Friday, May 23, at approximately 4 p.m.
The warrants were issued as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics in the community.
Detectives also had an arrest warrant for the target of the search, identified as Earl Kendricks, for the distribution of a Class B substance on a prior date.
At about 4:20 p.m., officers observed Kendricks operating a vehicle toward his residence.
A traffic stop was conducted, and he was informed of the active arrest warrant for narcotics distribution.
Kendricks was transported back to his residence for the execution of the search warrant.
During the search, police recovered more than 500 grams of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution, digital scales, cutting agents, measuring cups, Suboxone strips and $4,340 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Kendricks, 31, of 168 Mechanic Street, apartment 2L, was charged with trafficking in cocaine (200 grams or more) and possession of a Class B substance (subsequent offense) and held on the prior distribution warrant.
He was held on $100,000 cash bail pending arraignment in Dudley District Court on Tuesday, May 27.
