RUMFORD — A Mexico man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that occurred last week at a local retail store.

On May 23, Rumford Police officers responded to Tractor Supply for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Officers learned that a male suspect had stolen a Husqvarna chainsaw from the store and, when confronted by store employees, threatened to spray them with what was believed to be a chemical agent.

A good Samaritan intervened to assist the store employees, prompting the suspect to flee the scene on foot.

Following a prompt investigation, officers identified the suspect as Bryan Festus Wood, 35, of Mexico.

Earlier this morning, May 28, Rumford officers spotted Wood walking along Route 2 on Falls Hill and took him into custody without incident.

Wood has been charged with Class B Robbery, a felony under Maine law. He was transported to the Oxford County Jail pending further proceedings.
