Cortlandville man charged with felony DWI after UTV stop in McGraw

CORTLANDVILLE — A McGraw man was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge after a traffic stop on a utility task vehicle in the Village of McGraw on May 27.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, an officer stopped a UTV traveling on South Street at approximately 6:53 p.m. and identified the operator as Michael H. Gillette, 39, of McGraw Marathon Road.

Deputies determined Gillette was intoxicated and took him into custody.

Gillette was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, as well as infractions for having an uninspected and unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, consumption of an alcoholic beverage and possession of an open container, unsafe tires, and non-transparent front windshield and side window.

He was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Gillette was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 9 a.m. May 28 and was released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court at 11:30 a.m. July 2.
