BERLIN — The Berlin Fire/EMS and Police Department announced the arrest of Firefighter/EMT Kyle Lichwell of Sterling on May 28 in connection with an ongoing child pornography investigation.
The Sterling Police Department is leading the investigation, which involves alleged incidents dating back to earlier this year.
Lichwell was employed full-time by the Berlin Fire Department/EMS.
The Town of Berlin stated it had no prior knowledge of complaints or allegations related to the case before May 28.
The town said it acted swiftly upon notification and has fully cooperated with investigators.
Lichwell is no longer employed by Berlin.
Authorities emphasized that community safety, particularly for vulnerable members, is their top priority.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Berlin Police Department or the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
