WINOOSKI — A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 southbound near mile marker 90.4 injured one person and totaled a car Tuesday night, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Williston Barracks responded to the collision at approximately 8:54 p.m. on May 27.

Police said Saed Mamishi, 61, of Pierrefonds, Quebec, was driving a 2021 Kenworth T680 southbound in the traveling lane when he changed lanes and struck a 2006 Ford Fusion operated by David Carman, 50, of Proctor.

The impact caused Carman’s vehicle to veer into the median guardrail and then bounce off, striking Mamishi’s truck on its left side, officers said.

Mamishi brought his vehicle to a stop on the shoulder a short distance ahead.

Carman’s car continued to spin, hitting a second guardrail before coming to rest on the shoulder facing west.
Carman was injured in the crash and his vehicle was totaled, police said.

Mamishi was not hurt.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash occurred under clear weather and good road conditions.

First responders from the Winooski Fire Department, St Michaels Fire Rescue, and Townline Auto assisted at the scene.
