WATERBURY — Waterbury Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Brass Mill Center Mall, located at 495 Union Street, at approximately 4:43 p.m. Tuesday, May 27.
Upon arrival, officers found five adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
All victims were transported to local hospitals and are considered to have non-life-threatening injuries at this time.
Preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random act of violence.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a dispute that escalated into gunfire.
Detectives have identified a person of interest, who is currently in police custody.
The Brass Mill Center has been thoroughly cleared by Waterbury Police and Connecticut State Police.
The area is now secure and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
This remains an active investigation.
