BOSTON — Officers arrested a suspect and recovered a loaded firearm early Wednesday following a ShotSpotter activation in Roxbury.
At approximately 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to reports of gunfire near 305 Dudley Street.
Ballistic evidence was found on Adams Street, and damage was observed at a storefront and apartment at 306 Dudley Street.
District B-2 detectives reviewed surveillance footage showing two Black male suspects fleeing on a blue moped with distinctive features.
Patrol officers were alerted to be on the lookout.
At about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, officers arrested Maurise Tutt, 21, of Dorchester, near Cedar Street and Terrace Street.
Police had earlier been briefed about suspects fleeing on a blue moped with a unique headlight.
Officers spotted a moped matching the description being operated by a masked rider without a helmet.
The suspect fled, leading police on a chase through multiple streets before abandoning the moped.
Tutt was apprehended after a foot pursuit.
Officers found a loaded 9mm firearm with an extended magazine near the abandoned moped.
Tutt allegedly injured an officer during processing and was treated for minor injuries before being booked.
He faces multiple firearm charges, assault on an officer, and motor vehicle violations.
The investigation remains active.
