RUMFORD — A Mexico man has been arrested and charged following a robbery that took place last week at a retail store in Rumford.

On May 23, Rumford police responded to Tractor Supply for a reported robbery.

Officers determined that a male suspect had stolen a Husqvarna chainsaw from the store and, when confronted by employees, threatened to spray them with what was believed to be a chemical agent.

A bystander intervened, leading the suspect to flee on foot.

No injuries were reported.

After an investigation, police identified the suspect as Bryan Festus Wood, 35, of Mexico.

Witnesses later positively identified Wood as the individual involved in the robbery.

At about 8 a.m. May 28, officers located Wood walking along Route 2 on Falls Hill and arrested him without incident.

Wood has been charged with Class B robbery, a felony.

He was taken to the Oxford County Jail pending further court proceedings.
