Providence police make multiple arrests related to court altercation, traffic stops

PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested several individuals Wednesday afternoon following a series of incidents, including a physical altercation at the Sixth Division District Court and a pair of unrelated motor vehicle stops.

At 12:00 p.m., troopers arrested Jean Junior Sajous, 34, of Providence, on charges of violation of a protection order and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.

The arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Chalkstone Avenue in Providence.

Sajous was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Center.

At 2:00 p.m., troopers arrested seven individuals for disorderly conduct and simple assault as a result of an altercation at the Sixth Division District Court.

Those arrested were Brian Royer, 20, Jael Baez Fernandez, 20, Geremy Tavaraz, 23, Leonardo Brito, 22, Pedro Dejesus, 39, Nelson Forkpa, 18, Randy Espinal, 19, and Luis Dejesus, 19, all from Providence or nearby Pawtucket.

The arrests were made after an investigation into the incident.

According to police, Royer, Tavaraz, and Brito were arraigned and released.

Baez Fernandez, Forkpa, Espinal, and Luis Dejesus were arraigned and transported to the ACI Men’s Intake as bail violators.

Pedro Dejesus was arraigned and held as a probation violator.

Separately, at 1:51 a.m., troopers arrested Tyra Miller, 25, of Pawtucket, for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or greater and reckless driving.

The arrest followed a stop on Route 95 in Pawtucket.

Miller was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released to a responsible adult.

At 3:15 a.m., troopers arrested Michael Sellers, 41, of Riverside, on a North Providence Police Department affidavit and warrant for obtaining a vehicle to defraud.

Sellers was stopped on Route 146 in Lincoln, processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, and transferred to North Providence police custody.
