Police investigate shots fired at Worcester park

WORCESTER — The Worcester Police Detective Bureau is investigating a shots-fired incident at University Park on May 27 at approximately 8:09 p.m.

The department received multiple calls reporting gunshots near the intersection of Illinois Street and Gates Street.

Witnesses reported hearing between 10 and 12 gunshots.

Officers located several shell casings at the scene.

A 21-year-old victim later arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening graze wound to the head.

Two vehicles were struck by projectiles during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
