Police car stolen, crashes in Bedford

MANCHESTER — A stolen police car crashed in Bedford early Wednesday after a brief pursuit.

Manchester police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at approximately 12:50 a.m. near 5 Clifford Avenue.

The owner, a food delivery driver, said he had left his 2014 Toyota Corolla unattended briefly before it was taken.

Around 1:50 a.m., an officer spotted the stolen car on Kenberma Street.

The vehicle was driving without headlights and fled when police activated emergency lights and sirens.

A pursuit began but was called off by a supervisor shortly after entering the highway.

The officer lost sight of the vehicle.

New Hampshire State Police found the crashed car in Bedford at about 2 a.m.

The juvenile driver died in the crash, while a passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
