LINCOLN — State Police responded at 11:34 a.m. on May 27 to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Oxbow Road and Cottons Road in the town of Lincoln.
Investigators determined that Renee M. Smith, 42, of Vernon Center, N.Y., was driving a 2020 GMC Terrain and had stopped at a flashing red light facing eastbound on Cottons Road.
Smith proceeded into the intersection and entered the path of a 2020 Volvo dump truck traveling northbound on Oxbow Road.
The dump truck, owned by Wilcox Sealing and Paving LLC, was being operated by Daniel E. Stetson, 66, of Brookfield, N.Y.
The vehicles collided, causing the dump truck to overturn and spill approximately 19 tons of liquid asphalt onto the roadway.
State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Recovery Team responded to the scene.
No injuries occurred as a result of the collision.
Smith was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
