KINGSTON — Troopers from the New York State Police barracks in Kingston responded to a report of a physical domestic incident at the Kingston Motel, located at 239 Forest Hill Drive in the town of Ulster, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on May 23.
A preliminary investigation determined that Brittany C. Santaliz, 33, of Kingston, unlawfully entered a motel room and physically assaulted a 12-year-old child.
Police said Santaliz struck the victim multiple times in the face, causing injury.
The victim’s parents were able to remove Santaliz from the room and immediately contacted police.
Emergency Medical Services evaluated the victim at the scene, where the child sustained minor injuries.
Santaliz was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony, third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor, and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17, also a Class A misdemeanor.
Officials said Santaliz was arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to the Ulster County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or $20,000 partially secured bond.
Santaliz is scheduled to appear in Ulster County Court on May 28 at 2 p.m.
