HOLYOKE — Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan announced that two shooting suspects were arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop in connection with a shots fired incident two days prior.
Around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, May 25, Holyoke police officers responded to East Dwight Street and Center Street for a report of shots fired.
Officers located approximately 13 shell casings.
No victims or property damage were immediately located.
Holyoke police Officers James Kennedy and Abelardo Barta began investigating and identified two suspects, Glenn Jacobs and Xavier Medina.
Officers applied for and were granted a warrant for their arrests.
On Tuesday, May 27, members of the Hampden County Narcotics Task Force, which includes Holyoke police officers, were conducting an unrelated investigation.
Around 4:05 p.m., troopers assigned to the task force conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lyman Street and Open Square Way.
Jacobs was the driver; Medina was a passenger.
They were placed under arrest.
42-year-old Glenn Jacobs of Holyoke is charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of a firearm without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
20-year-old Xavier Medina of Springfield is charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of a firearm without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
