Buffalo man arrested on drug charges after pursuit in Olean

OLEAN — Investigators with the Olean Police Department’s Street Crimes unit located James Young, 54, of Buffalo, operating a vehicle in North Olean at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23.

Young, also known as “Goldie,” was wanted on an outstanding indictment warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, both class B felonies.

Patrol officers attempted to stop Young, who drove onto Route 86 and did not initially pull over after officers activated their emergency lights.

Officers observed Young throwing what appeared to be drugs out of his car window while traveling on Route 86.

Young later stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody.

Investigators recovered 10 baggies of crack cocaine on Route 86 that Young had discarded.

Young was transported to the Olean Police Department, where he was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was also processed on the indictment charges.

Young was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail pending further court proceedings.
