SOUTH WINDSOR — South Windsor Police Department made several arrests over the Memorial Day weekend for various offenses ranging from shoplifting to domestic violence.
On Friday, May 23, at 3:16 p.m., police arrested Matthew Belardo, 32, of Oakdale on an active arrest warrant related to a June 2024 incident at Lens Crafters on Evergreen Way.
Belardo was identified as one of four individuals who allegedly stole approximately $8,000 worth of sunglasses from the store.
He was taken into custody by New London Police Department and transferred to South Windsor police, where he was processed and released on an $8,000 non-surety bond.
Belardo is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 11 at 9 a.m.
In a separate incident on the same day, Nicholas J. Dugan, 38, of West Hartford was arrested at 4:45 p.m. after police responded to Lowes on Buckland Hills Drive for a report of shoplifting.
Dugan allegedly stole $164.19 worth of merchandise and was issued a misdemeanor summons for larceny in the 6th degree.
He is also scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 11 at 9 a.m.
On Saturday, May 24, at 3:59 p.m., police arrested Michelle L. Burnham, 28, of South Windsor on an active failure to appear arrest warrant after she was stopped while driving.
Burnham was processed and released on a $7,500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 27 at 9 a.m.
In the early hours of Sunday, May 25, at 4 a.m., police arrested Guillermo Perez, 53, of Hartford following a domestic violence incident at a South Windsor residence.
Police determined that Perez pushed the victim, placed his hands around her neck impeding her ability to breathe, and attempted to take her phone to prevent her from calling 911.
Perez was released on a $25,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 27 at 9 a.m.
