RYE — On Monday, May 26, at approximately 1:55 p.m., the City of Rye Police Department was advised by the Westchester County Police Department that the main parking lot for Playland Park was at capacity.

Traffic was subsequently diverted out of Playland Park, causing congestion throughout the residential neighborhoods of Rye’s Beach Area.

Rye police officers were deployed to the surrounding neighborhoods to address violations by park goers illegally parking in the city’s designated Beach Area.

In total, 76 parking summonses were issued to vehicles parked in violation of the Beach Area Ordinance.

Seasonal parking restrictions are in effect from May 1 to Sept. 30 each year, with posted signs indicating regulations.
