FAIR HAVEN — A Rutland man was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from multiple businesses in Fair Haven, police said.
Robert P. Trombley, 60, was arrested on May 23 at 4 p.m. after police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Carl Durfees Store on Main Street.
Police identified Trombley as the suspect after recently stopping him for a traffic violation.
Investigators determined Trombley had allegedly taken items totaling approximately $1,100 from the store without paying for them.
Officers observed new tools, liquor bottles and other items inside Trombley’s car.
Police learned Trombley had also allegedly stolen items from Liberty Street Market and Aubuchon Hardware.
During an interview, Trombley admitted to his involvement in the incidents, according to police.
Trombley was charged with felony retail theft and two additional counts of retail theft.
He was issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to answer to the charges.
