LEBANON — A 90-year-old Enfield woman is in critical condition after driving the wrong way on Interstate 89 and causing a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

State Police dispatch began receiving reports of a wrong-way driver on Interstate 89 at 1:24 p.m., traveling southbound in the northbound lanes at Exit 18 in Lebanon.

Less than a minute later, dispatchers were informed the vehicle had crashed.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Buick Lucerne driven by Kathleen Ford, 90, of Enfield, struck a VW Atlas SUV driven by Jennifer Pivovar, 67, of Randolph Center, head-on.

The impact caused the VW Atlas to hit a third vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata driven by Erin O’Connor, 24, of Warner.

Ford was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Pivovar and O’Connor were also transported to a hospital for evaluation.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 89 were closed for approximately one hour during the investigation.

One lane was later reopened to traffic before all lanes resumed normal operation about 30 minutes later.

Troopers were assisted by the Lebanon Fire Department, Lebanon Police Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, along with several local police departments that helped divert traffic.

No charges have been filed at this time, and all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.

Anyone with footage of the crash or information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Peter Kosakowski at 603-223-3831 or Peter.C.Kosakowski@dos.nh.gov.
