Tunbridge man arrested for domestic assault

TUNBRIDGE — Vermont State Police arrested a 52-year-old Tunbridge man on charges of domestic assault and violation of court-ordered conditions Sunday afternoon.

Troopers responded to a residence at 5:44 p.m. for a reported domestic assault.

Upon investigation, officers determined that David L. Smart had caused bodily pain and injury to a domestic partner.

Smart was also found to be in violation of court-ordered conditions previously set by Judge Heather Gray.

Officers took Smart into custody and transported him to the Royalton barracks for processing.

Smart was issued new court-ordered conditions of release and cited to appear in Orange County Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.

Following processing, Smart was transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility and held on $1,000 bail.

The Vermont State Police did not release the name of the victim, in accordance with policies regarding domestic violence cases.
