WELLFLEET — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run as 24-year-old Timothy Duval, an Army veteran from Tallahassee, Florida.
Duval, who was married and the father of a 3-year-old son, was visiting the area on vacation when he was struck and killed Saturday night while walking along Ocean View Drive.
According to police, Duval had been spending the evening with friends before becoming separated from the group prior to the incident.
The Wellfleet Police Department is actively investigating the case and following up on multiple leads, though no arrests have been made.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a pickup truck or SUV, based on the location of some of the victim’s injuries.
Police are urging residents, homeowners and business owners in the area to come forward with any surveillance footage, dashcam videos or eyewitness accounts from the night of the incident.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office, the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
