Man arrested in Lowell on domestic assault, drug charges

LOWELL — A 39-year-old Lowell man was arrested Monday after allegedly committing domestic assault and violating an abuse prevention order, according to Vermont State Police.

Mark Devoid was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m. on May 26 after police located him in Lowell.

During the arrest, officers discovered suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine in his possession, police said.

The investigation began on May 23 at 11:50 a.m. when troopers from the Derby Barracks started looking into reports of domestic assault incidents that occurred at locations in both Lowell and Eden.

Devoid could not be found at the time of the initial investigation, according to authorities.

He faces charges of second-degree aggravated domestic assault, violation of an abuse prevention order, and possession of fentanyl and cocaine.

After processing at the Derby Barracks, Devoid was lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

Additional charges are expected to be filed in Lamoille County, police said.
