One dead, one critical after shooting in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood

BOSTON — One man is dead and another person remains in critical condition following a shooting late Saturday in the Dorchester neighborhood, according to Boston police.

Officers from District B-3 responded to 38 Franklin Hill Avenue at approximately 9:47 p.m. after a ShotSpotter activation alerted them to gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, police found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries, where one adult male was later pronounced dead.

The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition as of Sunday morning.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
