Rhode Island troopers make multiple arrests in East Greenwich, Warwick

EAST GREENWICH — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Warwick man on charges of driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Route 4 Thursday morning.

Troopers from the Wickford Barracks took John Ferreira, 66, into custody at 10:45 a.m. after stopping his vehicle in East Greenwich.

Ferreira, of 27 Plantation Street in Warwick, was processed at the Wickford Barracks before being transported to Third District Court for arraignment.

In a separate incident Thursday evening, troopers arrested Andy Ares, 27, of Warwick, on an outstanding warrant from the State Police Scituate Barracks.

The arrest occurred at 7:34 p.m. following a barracks investigation and subsequent motor vehicle stop on Greenwich Avenue in Warwick.

Ares, who resides at 139 Lancaster Avenue, faced original charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and simple assault and/or battery.

After processing at the Wickford Barracks, Ares was arraigned as a probation and bail violator before being transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake.

Later that night, at 11:35 p.m., troopers arrested Roger Guyer, 52, of West Warwick, following reports of an erratic driver and subsequent motor vehicle accident in Warwick.

Guyer, of 5 Ritchotte Court, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test (first offense).

After processing at the Wickford Barracks, Guyer was arraigned before a Justice of the Peace and released with a future court date in Third Division District Court.
