Man arrested for gas theft in Fair Haven

FAIR HAVEN — A Poultney man was arrested after allegedly driving off without paying for gas at a local convenience store.

Lenwood Savage, 43, was taken into custody on May 22 following a report of a gas drive-off at Stewarts Shoppes on Capital Hill.

Fair Haven Police responded to the call at 7:00 p.m. after store employees reported that a customer had pumped fuel and left without payment.

Through their investigation, officers determined that Savage had allegedly obtained gas from the store and departed without paying.

Savage was arrested and charged with retail theft.

He was issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to answer to the charge.
