Man arrested for DUI, burglary at local residence in Alburgh

ALBURGH — A New York man was arrested Saturday after Vermont State Police responded to a burglary report and found him showing signs of impairment.

Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks were called to 1409 U.S. Route 2 in Alburgh at approximately 12:34 p.m. on May 24.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with Joshua Winkle, 46, of Mooers, who arrived at the scene shortly after police.

While speaking with Winkle, troopers detected indicators of impairment and conducted a DUI screening.

Winkle was subsequently arrested on charges of driving under the influence and burglary.

He was transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing.

Winkle was issued a criminal citation to appear before Grand Isle Superior Court on June 5 at 9 a.m.
