Driver seriously injured in Newbury interstate crash

NEWBURY — A 20-year-old Chelsea man suffered suspected serious injuries after his vehicle struck a tree and overturned on Interstate 91 South Friday morning.

Colby Martin was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza southbound near mile marker 102 when he failed to maintain his lane, according to Vermont State Police from the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:19 a.m. during cloudy conditions with light rain.

Troopers responding to the scene found Martin’s vehicle had struck a tree and come to rest on its roof.

Martin, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The Subaru was declared a total loss.

Upper Valley Ambulance and the Wells Rivers Fire Department assisted state police at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
