Teen arrested after threatening health workers with hammer in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — A 19-year-old Lyndon resident was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to assault multiple employees at a rehabilitation facility with a hammer.

Ce’Keria Mitchell was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct following the incident at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation.

Vermont State Police responded to the facility at approximately 6:20 p.m. after receiving reports of threatening behavior.

When troopers arrived, staff members identified Mitchell as having threatened employees Lee Davis, 60, of Lyndon, and Billie-Jo Garfield, 51, of Concord, with a hammer.

Mitchell had left the scene before police arrived but was located shortly afterward in the surrounding area.

Mitchell was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on May 23 at 12:30 p.m.
