HADLEY — A Springfield man was arrested on a fugitive warrant Thursday at 6 p.m. after police conducted a routine check of his vehicle in the Hampshire Mall parking lot.

According to the Hadley Police Department, an officer ran a registration query on an unoccupied parked vehicle during a routine patrol of the mall area.

The query revealed that the registered owner was wanted in Connecticut on an extraditable warrant.

Officers observed the registered owner, later identified as Tomas Reyes, 44, of Springfield, exiting JC Penney.

Police approached Reyes and confirmed his identity by comparing him to his Registry of Motor Vehicles photo.

Reyes was taken into custody without incident and charged with being a fugitive from justice.
