HAMPTON BAYS — The New York State Police Computer Crime Unit arrested a Hampton Bays man wanted for sex crimes involving a minor following a request for assistance from Georgia authorities.
Oswin M. Guillen Padilla, 41, was taken into custody May 22 after the Duluth Police Department in Georgia sought help locating him for inappropriate communication with a minor.
The investigation began when the victim’s mother discovered numerous photos, videos and inappropriate messages exchanged between her child and Padilla.
Duluth police determined Padilla resided in Suffolk County, prompting them to contact New York authorities on May 21.
State troopers located and interviewed Padilla at his Hampton Bays residence, where he admitted to using multiple social media platforms including Messenger, WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, TikTok and Instagram to intentionally seek explicit content from minors while knowing their age.
Padilla was charged with four counts of possessing sexual performance by a child less than 16, a class E felony.
Authorities transported Padilla to Southampton Town Court while awaiting arraignment in Suffolk County and extradition to Georgia on an arrest warrant from Duluth police.
