Somerville sees multiple assaults, arrests in mid-May crime wave

SOMERVILLE — A series of violent incidents kept police busy in mid-May, including assaults at Assembly Row and a stabbing that led to an arrest.

On May 14 at 7:29 p.m., police took a report of an assault that occurred on April 23, when a juvenile was reportedly attacked by a group of teenage males at Assembly Row, resulting in multiple injuries to the victim.

That same evening at 7:07 p.m., officers responded to a business in Assembly Row where a customer reported being pushed by two employees after being denied bathroom access.

On May 15 at approximately 8:27 a.m., police arrested a male suspect during a breaking and entering incident on Browning Road, where the homeowner discovered an unknown man inside his newly purchased property.

A victim reported on May 16 at 11:40 a.m. that he had been struck in the head with a bag of glass by someone known to him on Broadway earlier that morning.

Police made another arrest on May 19 at approximately 9:37 p.m., when officers responded to a residence on Perkins Street and found a bleeding victim who reported being stabbed by a known assailant.

The suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody.

The police department also reported several property crimes during this period, including two motor vehicle vandalisms, five car break-ins, three bicycle thefts, three package thefts, and one motor vehicle theft.
