NEEDHAM — Police responded to multiple incidents involving unauthorized solicitors, a stolen vehicle, and various reports of fraud and vandalism across town between May 12 and May 18.
On May 12 at approximately 5:09 p.m., an officer responded to May St and Nehoiden St, where a solicitor without a permit was found in a backyard and warned for violating the town’s solicitation bylaw.
Later that evening at approximately 8:18 p.m., police responded to Damon Rd for a similar complaint, locating multiple employees of the same company soliciting without permits.
A 32-year-old Norwood resident will be summoned to Dedham District Court for Assault and Battery on EMS personnel following an incident on Chestnut Street on May 12 at approximately 10:08 p.m.
On May 17 at approximately 2:41 a.m., officers responded to an August Way address for a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
After investigation, a 17-year-old Needham resident will be charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Multiple fraud reports were filed throughout the week, including incidents on Belle Lane, Brackett Street, and Oakland Avenue where residents reported suspicious activity on accounts or fraudulent accounts opened in their names.
Police also documented several reports of vandalism, including incidents at Webster Street and Central Avenue addresses.
On May 18 at approximately 6:23 p.m., Needham Fire and Police responded to a 1st Ave business for the report of a small fire, which was extinguished without further incident.
