MANCHESTER — A 19-year-old Manchester man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting that left one person seriously injured earlier this month.
Police responded to the area of 429 Wilson Street around 1 a.m. on May 2 after a ShotSpotter alert was triggered and a separate 911 call reported a shooting.
Officers found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately began administering life-saving aid.
According to a witness, she and the victim were outside when they overheard a man and woman arguing.
The witness told police that after she asked the couple to quiet down, the man began shouting profanities at her.
When the victim stepped in to intervene, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots at close range.
The witness stated that neither she nor the victim knew the shooter.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Through their investigation, detectives identified Ayden Bonella as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest on attempted murder charges.
Bonella later turned himself in to Manchester Police and is being held on preventative detention pending a court hearing.
