ATHOL — The Athol Police Department issued a scam alert Tuesday after a local business reported that hackers had compromised their online presence.
Privilege 351 Barber Shop notified authorities that their website and social media accounts had been hacked, according to police.
The hackers are sending messages to customers requesting money transfers, police said.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that Privilege 351 will not be sending any messages requesting money.
Police are advising residents who receive such messages to refrain from sending any funds, as these requests are fraudulent.
