FAIR HAVEN — A local woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shoplifting from a Dollar General store where she had previously been banned.
Samantha J. Smith, 37, of Fair Haven, faces charges of retail theft and unlawful trespass following the incident.
Police responded to the Main Street Dollar General at 4 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of shoplifting.
Through investigation, officers determined Smith allegedly took items from the store without paying for them.
Authorities discovered Smith had previously been issued a no trespass order prohibiting her from entering the Dollar General.
When interviewed by police, Smith admitted to her involvement in the incident, according to officials.
Smith was arrested and issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to answer to the charges.
