SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police detectives arrested two suspects and seized a loaded large-capacity firearm on the 300 block of Main Street Friday at approximately 6:05 p.m.

Around 5 p.m., detectives observed a known juvenile suspect who they knew to be unlicensed and had an active DYS arrest warrant.

Detectives began conducting surveillance on Acushnet Avenue and observed the juvenile suspect along with two other subjects walking towards Main Street.

Detectives also observed one of the subjects, later identified as Jaedyn Perez, wearing a man purse across his body which appeared to be heavily weighted.

The three individuals walked into a restaurant on the 300 block of Main Street as detectives approached to detain them pending an investigation.

Perez attempted but failed to flee from detectives.

The juvenile suspect initially complied but then tried to get away before being placed under arrest on the aforementioned warrant.

Detectives recovered the key to the car that the juvenile was driving, which was unlicensed, unregistered, uninsured and had a license plate reported stolen out of New York state.

Inside the man purse Perez had on, detectives recovered a loaded firearm with 14 rounds of ammunition.

Perez, 18, of Springfield, is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way, and receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number.

The name, charges and booking photo of the juvenile suspect will not be released due to his age.
