TEWKSBURY — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly attempted to steal merchandise from a local department store.
On Friday, May 17 around 5:30 p.m., a man entered Marshall’s at 10 Main Street in Stadium Plaza and loaded various items into a laundry hamper, according to the Tewksbury Police Department.
The suspect waited in line at the register before making a “one minute” gesture and walking past all points of sale without paying.
After abandoning his shopping cart, the man took the hamper filled with merchandise and attempted to exit the store.
Loss Prevention personnel confronted the suspect in the exit vestibule, where he dropped the stolen items and fled the area in a grey car.
Tewksbury Police are urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about the incident to contact them.
