FALL RIVER — Police arrested a 44-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking who had previously been deported from the United States, authorities said Friday.
Ramon Pimentel Mejia was taken into custody Thursday evening during the execution of a search warrant in the 500 block of South Main Street, according to the Fall River Police Department.
Officers found Pimentel Mejia outside a residence with more than 29 grams of suspected crack cocaine packaged for distribution, police said.
Authorities also seized $4,483 in cash and a substantial quantity of an unknown powdery substance that has been submitted for testing.
Pimentel Mejia, who police say had previously been deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and was residing unlawfully in the United States, was charged with trafficking in cocaine over 18 grams.
He is being held without bail due to uncertainties regarding his true identity and immigration status, according to police.
